STAMFORD, Conn. -- Jack Tymon -- of Statesville, N.C. and formerly of Stamford, died on Tuesday, Jan. 19. He was 87.
He was born on Aug. 27, 1928, in Stamford, to James and Elizabeth Phelan Tymon.
Tymon was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a parishioner of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, in Statesville.
Tymon was a self-employed mason by trade. He was also an avid hunter, fisherman and had a green thumb. He loved to watch football and was a huge fan of Notre Dame and the New England Patriots.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ruth Fox Tymon; daughters Robin Tymon of Statesville, Tammy T. Mulrooney of Statesville, Kelley Gutowski of New Hampshire and Cindy Garrity; sons Jack ymon Jr. of New Hampshire and Kevin Tymon; sister Kathleen Herbert of Florida; 34 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren.
Tymon was predeceased by two daughters, Karen Thagouras of New Hampshire and Tracy Tymon.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m on Friday, Jan. 22, at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, in Statesville. Burial and services will be held at a later date in Stamford. Nicholson Funeral Home of Statesville is handling the arrangements.
