STAMFORD, Conn. - Immacolata Vartuli Iorfino, lifelong Stamford resident, died Aug. 23. She was 72.

Iorfino was born March 4, 1941, to Innocenzo and Maria Rosaria Sette Vartuli, in Arena Italy.

Growing up in Arena she followed the family trade as a seamstress. She was a member of the Churches of the Madonna delle Grazie and San Michele. In 1971 she immigrated with her family to the United States. They settled in Stamford where she became a lifelong resident of the town and parishioner of Sacred Heart Church. She worked for U.S. Surgical and Garrity Industries in the 197’s. In the 80s she worked as a seamstress for Dress Barn, Alcott & Andrews, and Talbots. She was a longtime member of the Lega Arena-Dasá.

Iorfino is survived by her husband, Francesco Corbo; sons, Anthony Iorfino (Kathleen Orr) of Bethel, Enzo Iorfino of Stamford, Domenico Iorfino (Marylynn Engelskirger) of Fairfield, and Pasquale Iorfino of West Haven; stepchildren, Elisabetta (Corbo) and Daniel Vogler of Windsor, Maria (Corbo) Joyce of Trumbull, Domenic and Zoe (Hughes) Corbo of Stamford; siblings, Giuseppina (Vartuli) Inzitari of Bayonne, N.J., Pasquale and Rosina Vartuli of Bayonne, N.J., Elisabetta (Vartuli) Larobina of Naples, Italy, and Salvatore and Assunta Vartuli of Arena, Italy; five grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Giuseppe Iorfino of Bologna, Italy, Nicola and Caterina (Pisano) Iorfino of Lidcombe, Australia, Olimpia Rosa (Corbo) Iorfino of Stamford, Michele and Rosa (Gerace) Iorfino of Stamford, Giuseppina Lombardo (Corbo) of Vibo Valentia, Italy, and Teresina Tomas (Corbo) of Stamford.

She was predeceased by her parents; former husband, Raffaele Iorfino; brothers, Salvatore, Domenico and Giuseppe Vartuli; and brothers and sisters-in-law Michele Iorfino, Caterina (Larobina) Iorfino, Pasquale Iorfino, Domenico Iorfino, Domenico Inzitari, Mariantonia (Vartuli) Iorfino, Giuseppe Larobina, Fiorenzio and Eleanora (Pirro) Corbo, and Pasquale Lombardo.

Calling hours are Thursday, Aug. 29 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home Friday, Aug. 30 at 9:30 a.m.  proceeding to St. Mary’s RC Church 566 Elm St., Stamford, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery, Rock  Rimmon Road, Stamford.
