A native of Newark, N.J., Brenner served in the U.S. Navy.
He then earned a doctorate in psychology from Case Western Reserve University, and worked as an industrial psychologist for companies such as Citibank, Xerox, and Raytheon.
After he retired, he served as chairman of the board of directors of ARI. He was a board member of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Stamford. Brenner also volunteered with the Connecticut State Department of Mental Retardation.
Survivors include his wife, Jo-Ann Brenner; two daughters, Mary Betsy Brenner and Jeanne Brenner; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one nephew.
His first wife, Joan Hester Brenner; two sons, Jim Brenner and Daniel Brenner; and one daughter, Christine Brenner, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, May 7, at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 20 Forest St., Stamford.
