STAMFORD, Conn. – Helen DiStefano, 93, a lifelong Stamford resident, died Friday, April 17.

She was born March 4, 1922, to the late Joseph and Rose Creszenso Gallo of Stamford.

DiStefano worked as a seamstress for many years and was a co-owner of Stamford’s Shye Shop.

She also worked at Omega Engineering.

Survivors include two daughters, Robin (John) Russo and Tammy (Paul) Montanaro, both of Stamford; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Her husband, Fred DiStefano; one daughter, Cynthia DiStefano; three brothers, Joseph, Sam, and Al Gallo; and one sister Mary G. Sessa, preceded her in death.

Calling hours will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory.

Interment will follow in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, 25 Camp Ave., Darien.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, 126 Monroe Turnpike, Trumbull, CT 06611.
