STAMFORD, Conn. – Helen B. Stephens, 90, died Saturday, May 23, at St. Camillus Rehabilitation Center.
Stephens was a resident of Stamford for over 70 years. She was born Aug. 26, 1924, in Garnett, S.C., the daughter of Flora H. McRae and Tom Bradley. She was married to Alphonso Stephens, Jr. and attended Voorhees College in Denmark, S.C.
Stephens was a member of Bethel AME Church of Stamford and was employed with Clairol Corp. until retirement.
She is survived by a daughter, Carol S. Covell of Midlothian, Va.; a son, Laurence Stephens of Stamford; and a host of family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents and husband.
Visitation will take place Thursday, May 28, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Downer Funeral Home, 31 Stillwater Ave., Stamford. That will be followed by a service of celebration 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Dawn C. Snell officiating. Interment will follow at Fairfield Memorial Park, Stamford.
