STAMFORD, Conn. – Gloria Esther Flores, 82, of Stamford, died Saturday, Oct. 24 at Stamford Hospital.
Flores was born in Puerto Rico Sept. 8, 1933, to Ramon and Providencia Quinones Flores.
She was a graduate of Morris High School in the Bronx, N.Y. She was employed as an administrative assistant at Union Carbide for many years before her retirement.
Flores was a member of St. Leo's Senior Group, Church of St. Cecilia's bible study group and the Sunshine Girls of St. Bridget of Ireland Church. She was a Eucharistic minister. She was also a permanent adorer of St. John Fisher Seminary and volunteered many hours with the Sisters of Life.
She is survived by her sisters Carmen Lydia Flores of Stamford; Gladys Pena (Luis) of Oklahoma; Aida Roche of Stamford; and three nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Leonard Cocchia.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Bridget of Ireland Roman Catholic Church, 278 Strawberry Hill Ave., Stamford. Interment will be private and there will be no calling hours.
The Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
