Durkin was born Nov. 5, 1933, in Stamford, Conn., to John and Lillian (Spazianti) Engenito. She graduated from Stamford High School in 1951, and married John Fiorito of Cos Cob in 1954. She later married Harold Durkin in Ridgefield Conn., and they moved to Stratford, where they lived for 15 years. In 2013, they moved to Boardman to prepare for retirement. She had a long work career in retailing and retired from Macy's in 1988.
Durkin is survived by her husband, Harold; children, Diane Ontko of Southington, Conn., Karen Preli of Huntington Conn., Robert Fiorito of Stamford, Conn., and Lori Fiorito of Taos, N.M.; brother, Michael; sister, Jo Ann; stepdaughters, Michelle Komisak of Lapeer, Mich., Laurie Peggs of Commerce Township, Mich.; 10 grandchildren; and a great grandchild. She was predeceased by her parents.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 12 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13 at the Our Lady of Peace R.C. Church, 651 Stratford Road, Lordship, Coon.
