STAMFORD, Conn. -- Stamford resident Gladys Carr "Snookie" Studwell died on Tuesday, Feb. 16. She was 85.
Born in Stamford, Studwell graduated from Sacred Heart Academy of Stamford class of 1948. She worked at Sonitrol/Westec for 27 years.
Studwell was a member of St. Mary's Rosary Society and the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians. She was an avid fan of the New York Mets, UCONN basketball and Notre Dame football.
She is survived by her children, Chris Studwell of Melbourne Beach, Florida, Kathryn Studwell of San Francisco, Joan Pendleton of Clifton, Virginia, Carol Lea DiPietro of Stamford and Douglas Studwell of Colchester; sister Leatrice Carr Allen of Hamden; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Studwell was predeceased by her husband, Donald; son Gregory; and parents Leon Carr and Kathryn Burns Carr.
A memorial mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 20, at St. Mary's Church, 566 Elm St., in Stamford. There are no calling hours, and burial will be private. Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, in Stamford, is assisting with arrangements.
