Giacomo 'James' Macari, 86, Of Stamford, Retired Pitney Bowes Employee

STAMFORD, Conn. - Giacomo "James" Macari, 86, of Stamford, died Monday, April 27.

He was born May 4, 1928, in Settefrati, Italy, to Giuseppa Terenzio Macari and Mario Macari.

He immigrated to the United States in 1948, first living in Queens, N.Y. Macari moved to Stamford in the 1950s, and worked as a tailor for a number of years.

Macari then worked for Pitney Bowes for 31 years, until he retired in 1990.

Survivors include two daughters, Josephine (Philip) DelMazio and Laura (David) Portanova; and five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

His wife, Annette Esposito Macari, preceded him in death.

Calling hours will be 9-10 a.m. Saturday, May 2, at the Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Ave., Stamford.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Ave., Stamford.

Entombment will follow in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, 25 Camp Ave., Darien.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
