STAMFORD, Conn. - Gerald E. "Moon" Mullins Sr., 85, a lifelong resident of Stamford, died Sunday, March 22.

He was born April 26, 1929, in Stamford, to the late John and Delia Beirne Mullins.

Mullins served as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was a self-made businessman, entrepreneur, and real estate tycoon.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Gronau Mullins; three sons, Gerry (Patty Ann) Mullins Jr. and Bryan (Maureen) Mullins, both of Stamford, and Patrick (Ticia) Mullins of Sandy Hook; one sister, Irene Sirico of New Canaan; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Three sisters, Jane Stanek, Margaret Marcel, and Madeline Hoder; and one brother, John Mullin, preceded him in death.

Calling hours will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford.

A funeral procession will leave the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory at 9:10 a.m. Friday and proceed to a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church, 403 Scofieldtown Road, Stamford.

Interment will follow in the Fairfield Memorial Park Cemetery, Oaklawn Avenue, Stamford.
