Gail Greco, 69, Of Stamford; Nurse At St. Joseph's Hospital

STAMFORD, Conn. -- Gail Frances Young Greco, 69, a former resident of Stamford, died Monday, March 2.

Greco was born in Stamford on Oct. 7, 1945, to the late Alfred J. and Mary Iannazzi Young.

She  was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy, Class of 1963, and St. Vincent's School of Nursing, Class of 1966, where she received her nursing degree. She also did volunteer work at St. Gabriel Middle School in Stamford.

Greco was employed as a registered nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital of Stamford, Greenwich Hospital and also with the Visiting Nurse &Hospice of Southwest Connecticut.

She is survived by her children, Matthew (Dawn) Greco  of West Norwalk, Nicole A. (Eddie) Connors of Manhattan; and two grandchildren, Jonathan and Matthew Greco.

Besides her parents, Gail was predeceased by her brother, Paul E. Young and her aunt , Eleanor Iannazzi.

Family and friends may call at Cognetta Funeral Home, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford, on Thursday, March 5, from 4-8 p.m.

A funeral procession will leave the funeral home on Friday, March 6, at 9:10 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. at the Church of St. Cecilia, 1184 Newfield Ave., Stamford. Interment will follow at St. John's Roman Catholic Cemetery, Darien.
