Frank L. Stamberg, 90, Of Stamford

STAMFORD, Conn. - Frank L. Stamberg of Stamford died Aug. 9. He was 90.

Stamberg was born in 1923, in Chicago, he was raised in Milwaukee, Wis., and graduated from the Country Day School. He attended Cornell University until 1942, when he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served in England, France, and Germany. After the War, he held sales, administrative, and marketing positions with Remington Rand, General Foods, and the Vick Chemical Company before joining Chesebrough-Pond's in 1952. He served as corporate vice president and president, respectively, of the Prince Matchabelli, Hospital Products and Health & Beauty divisions before being elected to the Board of Directors and named group vice president in 1976. He retired in 1985.

He was active in various trade organizations and was a director of the Cosmetics, Toiletries & Fragrance Association for 10 years. He also served as an outside director of the National Securities & Research Corp. in New York City. He was a member and past governor of the Greenwich Country Club and Harbour Ridge Yacht & Country Club.

Stamberg is survived by his children, Susan S. Schnoor of Hurlock, Md., Frank L. Stamberg Jr. of Riverside and Barbara S. McCarthy (Bob) of Ridgefield; and three grandsons. He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara Bushman Stamberg; and daughter, Amie D. Stamberg.

There will be a private memorial service.
