Hickey was born Feb. 1, 1927, in Stamford, to Frank and Mary Colosi Arcano. She was a lifelong Stamford resident, and graduated from Stamford High School, Class of 1944. She worked for 32 years as a legal secretary for Judges Paul Shapero and James Bingham eventually retiring in 1972.
Hickey is survived by her husband, John J. Hickey, Jr., of Stamford; sons, Donald Hickey of Las Vegas, Nev., Paul Hickey (Barbara), of Stamford, John J. Hickey III (Cathy) of Stamford, Peter Hickey of Southington, David Hickey (Phyllis) of Stamford, Joseph Hickey (husband, Robert) of New York and Thomas Hickey (Karen) of New Canaan; daughter, Joyce Sorrell of Illinois; brothers, Dennis Arcano, of Norwalk and Michael Sarni of Trumbull; sisters, Geraldine Bocuzzi of Milford and Lucille Gladwin of Stamford; 16 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Nicholas, Joseph, Anthony, Alfred, Thomas and Frank Arcano, Jr.; and sisters, Theresa Arcano and Dolly Perna.
Calling hours are Sunday, Nov. 16 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford. A funeral procession will leave Monday, Nov. 17 at 10:15 a.m. from the funeral home and proceed to St. Cecilia RC Church, 1184 Newfield Ave., Stamford, for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11 a.m. Inurnment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery, Rockrimmon Road, Stamford.
