NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- Alvin Ruskin, a mayor of New Rochelle in the 1960s and a former Westchester Family and County Court judge and a New York State Supreme Court justice, died Thursday in his home in Stamford, Conn. He was 95.
Ruskin, a Republican, was elected mayor twice in the 1960s. Before that, he served two terms as a City Council member, his son, William Ruskin, told The Journal News.
Ruskin was appointed a family court judge before his second mayoral term expired. He later was elected a New York state Supreme Court judge. He retired in 1988.
In addition to his son of Riverside, Conn., he is survived by a daughter, Nancy Ruskin of New York City; a brother, Robert Ruskin of Florida; and four grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Sylvia,
Services will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. at Temple Israel, 1000 Pinebrook Blvd., New Rochelle.
