STAMFORD, Conn. – Florence Kapusta of Stamford died Sunday, Oct. 14, at her home surrounded by her family. She was 89.
Born July 15, 1923, in Stamford, she was the daughter of Frank and Lucy Lacerenza Martinelli. She married her childhood sweetheart, Edward Kapusta, in 1942. Kapusta and her husband founded Clean Well Company in 1958.
She was a member of the Over Sixty Club, where she enjoyed hours of dancing, especially line dancing. She was also a member of AARP and St. Leo's Senior Group.
Kapusta is survived by two children, Lucille (Richard) Murray and Richard (Ellen) Kapusta; a sister, Lucille Cardillo; a brother, Frank Martinelli; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward F. Kapusta; a son, Edward Kapusta; three sisters, Anna Rita Martinelli, Mildred Bianco and Betty Benvenuto; a brother, Robin Merritt; and her stepmother, Louise Martinelli.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home and Crematory in Stamford. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Leo Parish in Stamford. Burial will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery in Stamford.
