STAMFORD, Conn. - Evelyn Florby of Stamford died Thursday, Oct. 23. She was 89.
Florby was born to Eilert Berntsen and Jenny Jensen Berntsen. She moved to England at age 18 and later to Washington, D.C., at age 21. She was married to Gus Florby. After their marriage, they settled in Stamford and raised a family.
Florby is survived by her daughters, Susan Florby and Linda (Michael) Rosa; seven grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters, Remy and Kemper Hetzel.
A celebration of her life will take place at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 884 Newfield Ave., Stamford. A reception will follow at the church.
