Evangelist Sheila E. Percy, 65, Former Stamford Resident

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - Evangelist Sheila E. Percy of Bridgeport, formerly of Stamford, died Sunday, Oct. 12. She was 65.

Percy was born in Stamford, to Lorraine Barnes and Joseph Percy. She was a resident of Bridgeport for the past 52 years. She was an accounts payable clerk for Benchmark Senior Living.

She served at the Full Gospel C.O.G.I.C. as usher board president, missionary, adult praise dancer, women's department member, one of God's leading ladies, prayer band participant and evangelist. She served as a volunteer with Casey Family Services.

Percy is survived by her daughters, Jacqueline Cooper of New York, and Rashanda Bowens of Bridgeport; mother, Lorraine Barnes of Trumbull; sisters, JoAnn Percy of New York, Sunny Gale Geter of Bridgeport, Jacqueline "Lulu" (Kevin) Brown of Georgia, Constance Dennis of Bridgeport and Sherrell Walker of New York; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; many nephews, nieces; other relatives; and friends. She was predeceased by her father; and sister, Denise McKnight.

Calling hours are Monday, Oct. 20, from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Cathedral of Praise C.O.G.I.C., International followed by a praise service in honor of Sheila. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, at the church with Elder Theodore Plummer, officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Bridgeport.
