Emil Kowalski, 88, Lifelong Stamford Resident

STAMFORD, Conn. -- Emil Kowalski, a lifelong resident of Stamford, died Monday, June 22, 2015 at Smith House Health Care. He was 88.

He was born July 3, 1926, in Stamford, to Kost and Anastasia Koczanski Kowalski. Kowalski was a custodian with the City of Stamford for many years before his retirement and was an avid harmonica player and a tennis pro.

Kowalski is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy Bottomly Kowalski, of Stamford, as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Kowalski was predeceased by one brother and two sisters.

Family and friends may call from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the Church of St.Cecilia, 1184 Newfield Ave., Stamford. Interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery in Darien.
