STAMFORD, Conn. - Eleanor "Ellie" Wahen of Stamford died Sunday, Sept. 15. She was 99.
A resident of Stamford for over 75 years, she was a homemaker and a businesswoman. She was a volunteer for many area charities, including the Easter Seals Rehabilitation Center and the American Cancer Society.
Wahen is survived by her daughters, Lois Assiff of Reno, Nev., June Palmer of Charleston, S.C., Carol Bertrum of Stamford and Paula Sczyconi of Milford; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, John (Wahen) Wanowsky of Stamford.
Calling hours are Friday, Sept. 20 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Leo P. Gallagher Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21 at Long Ridge Union Cemetery, Stamford.
