Eleanor Marie Sclafani, 90, Former Longtime Resident Of Stamford

NEW CANAAN, Conn. - Eleanor Marie (Surowiec) Sclafani of New Canaan, formerly of Stamford, died Sunday, Dec. 14. She was 90.

Sclafani was born Feb. 23, 1924 in Philadelphia to Joseph Surowiec and Magdalena (Kochanska) Surowiec. She attended the University of Wisconsin for two years. After her marriage, she moved to Stamford with her husband and raised a family and lived there for 40 years. She was a member of the Hubbard Heights Garden Club.

Sclafani is survived by her sons, Gus J. Sclafani (Sharon), Luciano V. Sclafani Jr. (Rosa), Bruce F. Sclafani (Angela), Ronald C. Sclafani; daughter, Adrienne M. Schettino (Jim); 18 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three nieces. She was predeceased by her husband, Luciano V. Sclafani Sr.; brothers, John, Scott and Frank Surowiec; and daughter-in-law, Lisa (Niejahr-Taylor) Sclafani.

Calling hours will be private. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 22, at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Ave., Stamford. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Darien.
