Donald T. Donahue, 87, Longtime Stamford Resident

STAMFORD, Conn. - Donald T. "Duke" Donahue, longtime resident of Stamford, died Friday, June 21. He was 87.

Donahue was born Aug. 4, 1925, in New York, to Patrick and Rose (Brady) Donahue. He graduated from Darien High School in 1943. He entered military service with the U.S.Army, and served from 1943 until 1946 in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre of Operations as a technical sergeant with the 76th Field Hospital attached to the 77th Infantry Division.

Donahue worked at Stamford Dressed Beef Company, Stamford; Southern New England Telephone Company, Stamford, in their marketing department; and most recently, for the law firm of Robinson & Cole, LLP, Stamford, in their Office Service Department.

At St. John R.C. Church, Stamford, he served for many years as lector, cantor, as a member of the Lay Advisory Board and as a past president of the Holy Name Society. He was also a member of the Stamford Area Commerce and Industry Association (SACIA); the United Way of Stamford; and the Stamford Chapter of the American National Red Cross where he served as a member of the Executive Board and was Chapter chairman for five years.

Having moved to the Cove area in 1972, he was a parishioner at St. Mary's R.C. Church, Stamford, until present day. He also was a member of the State Street Debating Society, Stamford, as well as the Darien Old Timers Association. He was a member of St. Augustine Council #41 Knights of Columbus, Stamford, where he was a Grand Knight, Faithful Navigator, was a member of the K of C Board of Directors Building Association serving in the offices of vice president and president.

Donahue is survived by his wife, Mary (Lambert) Donahue; daughter, Karen (Arthur) Humby of Fairfield; daughter-in-law, Kathy Donahue of Stamford; and four grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; sons, Donald T. Donahue, Jr. and Paul A. Donahue.

Calling hours are Tuesday, June 25 from 4  to 8 p.m. at Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Ave., in Stamford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 26 at St. Mary R.C. Church, 566 Elm St., in Stamford. A committal service and interment will immediately follow Mass at Queen of Peace R.C. Cemetery in Stamford.
