Donald Garbera, 68, Of Stamford, Writer And Photographer

STAMFORD, Conn. - Donald Garbera, a resident of Stamford for more than 30 years, died Wednesday, May 8. He was 68.

Garbera was born Jan. 22, 1945, in New York City, N.Y., son of Theodore and Theresa Garbera.

Garbera was a writer and photographer for more than 40 years. He was an artist who showcased his work at various Fairfield County venues. He was a parishioner of St. Mary's Holy Assumption Russian Orthodox Church.

Garbera is survived by his son, Theodore J. Garbera (Claire); two grandsons all of Norwalk; and brother, John P. Garbera of Stamford. He was predeceased by his parents.

Calling hours are Tuesday, May 14 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 15 at St. Mary's Holy Assumption Russian Orthodox Church, 14 Den Road, Stamford. Burial will take place at St. Vladimir's Russian Orthodox Cemetery in Jackson, N.J.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Darien Library, 1441 Post Road, Darien, CT 06820.
