Dominick W. Telesco, 101, Lifelong Stamford Resident

STAMFORD, Conn. - Dominick W. Telesco of Stamford died July 22. He was 101.

Telesco was born March 26, 1912, in Stamford, son of Canio and Catherine (Colangelo) Telesco. He was raised in Stamford and graduated from Stamford High School in 1931. He continued his education at Syracuse University where he majored in history and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1935.

Telesco began his career with the Stamford Board of Education as an American History teacher at the former Willard/Hoyt School and Stamford High School. He retired from teaching and began a new career in his father’s fuel business. In 1945, along with his three brothers, he established The Telesco Fuel & Masons’ Material Co., located in Stamford, serving as president, the business grew and two other locations were established in Brookfield and Danbury. He retired after 40 years in business.

He became a member of the Knights of Columbus in 1937. He joined The Stamford Rotary Club in 1946 and served for 12 years on The Stamford Salvation Army Advisory Board.

Telesco is survived by his children, Carol Ann (Michael) Rice and Donald Telesco; sister, Jennie Genovese; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. He was predeceased by his parents: wife, Genevieve (Kivlin) Telesco; sister, Anna DeClemente; and brothers, Anthony Telesco, William Telesco and Angelo Telesco.

Calling hours are from 4 to 8 p.m. July 25 at the Lacerenza Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Ave., Stamford. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. July 26 at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Ave., Stamford. Burial will follow in the St. John’s Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum where he will be laid to rest next to his wife.
