Courtney Byrnes, 29, Stamford Native, Radiology Tech Student

STAMFORD, Conn. -- Courtney Anne Byrnes, 29, a former resident of Stamford, died Sunday, Jan. 25, at Southern Ocean Medical Center in Manahawkin, N.J., after a courageous eight-year battle against cancer.

Byrnes was born and grew up in Stamford, and graduated from King School in 2003. Over the past six years, she called Barnegat Light her home.

She had just finished her first year of a radiology technician training program. From her family and friends to her fellow students to her many nurses, doctors and surgeons, Byrnes was beloved and admired by everyone she met.

She is survived by her parents Anne and Jack Byrnes; grandparents Richard and Helen Rosendale; brother Christopher; sisters Jessica, Liz and Angela; and her boyfriend Anthony.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Courtney's name can be made to the Lighthouse International Film Festival or the North Shore Animal League America.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate her life on Friday, Jan. 30, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Bugbee-Riggs Funeral Home, 1119 Long Beach Blvd, Ship Bottom, N.J. Another viewing will be held Saturday, Jan. 31, from 11 a.m. to noon at Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Ave, Stamford. A private burial will follow.
