Charles 'Duke' Teplica, 85, Formerly Of Stamford

STAMFORD, Conn. – Charles "Duke" Robert Teplica, a former longtime Stamford resident, died Oct. 10. He was 85.

He was born July 23, 1927, in Stamford to John and Mary Mazley Teplica. Upon graduating from Darien High School in 1945, Teplica enlisted in the Navy and served during World War II. After his service, he settled in Stamford, living most of his life in the Glenbrook area.

Teplica worked as a master carpenter and was a member of the Local 210 chapter of the New England Carpenters Union. He was most recently a resident of Melbourne, Fla.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Margaret "Peggy" Buck Teplica, of Melbourne; two sons, Scott Teplica, of Satellite Beach, Fla., and Glenn (Michele Russell) Teplica, of Stamford; two daughters, Michele Wilson and Sherry (John) Kellner, both of Stamford; two sisters, Josie Ostreicher, of Westport, and Betty Tyler, of Stamford; and 10 grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Bill; and a sister, Marion DeForest.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Maurice Church in Stamford. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery in Darien.
