He was born in Stamford July 19, 1926, to the late Louis and Margaret D'Andrea Pikikero. He was a veteran of WWII, having served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was a manager with Southern New England Telephone Company (SNET) for 37 years. He was an active member of St. Leo's Parish and its Senior Society.
Pikero was the recipient of the St. Augustine Medal of Honor for his hard work and dedication to St. Leo's Parish. He was an avid traveler and enjoyed gardening.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Josephine Palmeri Pikero; his children Susan Zezima (Jerry) of Coram, New York; Kevin J. Pikero (Lynn) of Reno, Nevada; Cecile LaRusso of Fairfield, Connecticut; seven grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and one brother.
Family and friends may call Tuesday, July 28 from 4-8 p.m. at Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford. A mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday, July 29 at 11 a.m. at St. Leo's Parish, 24 Roxbury Road, Stamford. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery, Rockrimmon Road, Stamford.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Regional Hospice and Home Care of Western Connecticut, 30 Milestone Road, Danbury, CT 06810.
