Carmella 'Millie' Rongoe, 95, Of Stamford

STAMFORD, Conn. – Carmella "Millie" Rongoe, a longtime Stamford resident, died Jan. 23 at St. Camillus Nursing Home in Stamford. She was 95.

Rongoe was born April 4, 1917, and raised in Stamford, a daughter of Dominic and Margaret LiVolsi Tamburri. She graduated from Stamford High School and worked several secretarial jobs in New York City.

Rongoe and her husband, James J. Rongoe Sr., later owned a secretarial service in Greenwich. She liked to sew, garden, listen to music, cook for her family and go shopping. She was a member of the Blue Moon Club in Stamford.

She is survived by a son, Richard C. (Vivian) Rongoe, of Wilmington, N.C.; a sister, Martha Salvatore, of Stamford; four grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.

She was predeceased by her husband; and a son, James J. Rongoe Jr.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday at St. John Church in Darien. Edward Lawrence Funeral Home handled arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Camillus Nursing Home, 494 Elm St., Stamford, CT 06902.
