Bob R. Turnbull, 82, Longtime Metro-North Railroad Conductor

STAMFORD, Conn. - Bob R. Turnbull, a longtime resident of Stamford, died Sunday, March 17. He was 82.

Turnbull was born June 17, 1930, in Elizabeth, N.J., son of Robert and Elizabeth Ree Turnbull. He retired after 40 years as a conductor for Metro-North Railroad. He was a parishioner of St. John's Episcopal Church.

Turnbull is survived by children, Donna Elsy (David) of Fairfield, Conn.; Robin Higgins of Mesa, Ariz.; Victoria Hall of South Salem, N.Y.; Robert W. Turnbull of Enfield, Conn.; two step-children, Thomas R. Slocum of Rocky Mount, N.C. and Elaine Slocum of Stamford; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; wife, Nina.

Calling hours are Wednesday, March 20, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Rd., Darien. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, March 21, at 10 a.m. at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Fairfield Memorial Park in Stamford.


In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. John's Episcopal Church, 628 Main St., Stamford, CT 06901.
