Malta was born Dec. 2, 1904, in Mexico, to Filipo and Filipa Gomez Malta. He has been a resident of Stamford since 1931 and worked for New York-New Haven-Hartford Railroad, Conde Nast Publishing and Capital Records as a custodian.
Malta is survived by his daughters, Linda Falco (Patrick) and June Green, both of Norwalk; son, Philip Malta of Stamford; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and sisters and brothers in Mexico. He was predeceased by his parents; and wife, Mary H. Braccia Malta. Calling hours are Thursday, Sept. 12 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:20 a.m. Friday, Sept. 13 for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Bridget’s of Ireland RC Church, 278 Strawberry Hill Ave., Stamford. Interment will follow at St. John’s RC Cemetery, Darien.
