Betty Brown Korn, 89, Formerly Of Stamford

STAMFORD, CONN. -- Betty Brown Korn, formerly of Stamford, died on Wednesday, April 22, at the Sunrise Senior Living Community in McLean, Va. after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was 89.

Korn was born April 6, 1926, in Brooklyn to Maurice C. Brown and Frieda G. Berman, graduating from Erasmus Hall High School and attending Finch College in New York City.

She was an active volunteer, driving a Red Cross ambulance after World War II, recording books for the blind and raising funds to support her sons' school PTA. After moving to Connecticut with her husband, Edward, she became a licensed real estate broker.

Korn was predeceased by her husband, and is survived by her sister, Paula (Peggy) Akst of Palm Beach; her two sons, Bill Korn of Basking Ridge, N.J., and Matt Korn of McLean, Va., their wives Beth and Cindy, and four grandchildren, David, Rachel, Sandra and Sarah Korn.

Interment was at Mount Hebron Cemetery in Queens, N.Y.
