Barbara Merry, 59, Of Stamford

STAMFORD, Conn. – Barbara Anne Merry, 59, died on Thursday, Feb. 12.

She was born on April 14, 1955,  to Frank and Mary Tierney Merry and was a lifelong resident of Stamford. She graduated from St. Mary's Parochial School, Sacred Heart Academy in 1972, College of New Rochelle in 1976 and received her master’s degree in educational technology/media specialist from Fairfield University in 1985.

She spent 35 years as an educator in the Stamford, Bridgeport and Fairfield school systems and recently retired after 27 years as librarian and media specialist from Holland Hill School in Fairfield. She loved all forms of media, from the printed word to films and Broadway shows. She enjoyed creating original videos to record her students' and colleagues' accomplishments and endeavors. She devoted herself to the care of her parents, sister and aunt. She was also very kind to animals and was especially close to her three cats, Mac, Minnie and Mabel.

She is survived by her three brothers, the Rev. Paul Merry of Danbury, Richard and his wife, Lucille Sabia Merry of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and Brian Merry of Monroe, Conn. 

She was predeceased by a sister, Maureen Merry Januski.

There will be a celebration of her life on Saturday, Feb. 21 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 540 Elm St., Stamford, with a reception to follow. Burial will be private.
