STAMFORD, Conn. -- Longtime Stamford resident Audrey Julius died Sunday, Jan. 24. She was 86.
A graduate of Jersey City State Teachers College, Julius was a teacher and homemaker. She made a loving and caring home for her family in locations across the country as her husband's work took them from New Jersey to Washington, Texas, Wyoming, Louisiana and finally Stamford for the last 30 years.
Julius was a dedicated member of Stamford’s St. Leo's Parish and a volunteer for Stamford Hospital and Meals on Wheels. She was an avid reader of books of all kinds, a fan of Broadway and local theater and a traveler to locales around the world.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Walter Julius; sister Janet Thompson; children Ruth Ann De Santis, and Tom Julius and his wife Barbara Bryce; and grandchildren Nicole, Jacqueline and Christopher De Santis and Adrian Julius.
Julius was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Gladys Smith.
A funeral Mass will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 29 at St. Leo's Roman Catholic Church, 24 Roxbury Road, Stamford.
