Asa "Ace" W. Scanlon Jr., 88, Stamford Resident

STAMFORD, Conn. — Stamford resident Asa "Ace" W. Scanlon, Jr., died on Tuesday, May 3. He was 88.

Scanlon served in the U.S. Army in the 192nd Field Artillery Battalion during the Korean War. 

He worked as a custodian at West School in New Canaan for 25 years. 

Scanlon is survived by his wife, Helen (Montella) Scanlon of 61 years; daughters Karen Scanlon and Barbara Marques and her husband Joseph and grandson Michael Marques.

He also is survived by sister Kathleen Uva, brother Richard Scanlon, sister-in-law Mary Montella and many nieces and nephews. 

Scanlon was predeceased by his parents, Asa W. Scanlon and Mary Elizabeth (McGuire) Scanlon, sister Ida Mae DeLeo, brothers James, John and Robert Scanlon. 

The family would like to thank Dr. Angelo Mallozzi and the staff at Stamford Hospital.

Family and friends may call at the Lacerenza Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8 Schuyler Ave., in Stamford on Friday, May 6, from 4-8 p.m. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Ave., in Stamford on Saturday, May 7 at 10:30 a.m. 

Interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, in Darien.
