STAMFORD, Conn. – Andrew Theodore Maceluch, 75, of Stamford, died Friday, Oct. 23.
He was born Aug. 19, 1940, in Norwalk, to the late Theodore and Kathryn Goral Maceluch.
Maceluch spent his young childhood in Stamford and early teens in Newark, N.J. at his family's bakery. He then moved back to Stamford and graduated from Stamford High School and attended Bridgeport University. In his 20s, he worked at Standard Brands as an experimental baker in the research and development department.
After his time at Standard Brands, he began his entrepreneurial career in real estate and continued to build his business. This continued for many years until his retirement in his 60s.
He was a longtime member of St. Vladimir's Church and Ponis Yacht Club, both of Stamford. His greatest passion was helping others, as well as fixing things. Solving financial situations and helping others with their problems was a joy for him. When not working, you could find him on his boat tinkering or entertaining family and friends. Taking his grandsons to the hot dog truck, the boat show, teaching them magic tricks and listening to their stories, or watching his granddaughter perform brought him contentment.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jeanette Kuznoff Maceluch of Stamford; his sons Warren Andrew Maceluch of Stamford and Christopher Maceluch of Pound Ridge, New York; his daughters Noel Buckner (Michae) of Darien and Denise Maceluch of California; a sister of Stamford; and six grandchildren.
Family and friends may call from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday with a prayer service at 1:30 p.m. at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford. Interment will follow at Fairfield Memorial Park, Oaklawn Avenue, Stamford.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his memory to the New Covenant House of Stamford, 90 Fairfield Ave., Stamford, CT 06902 or to the Salvation Army of Stamford, 198 Selleck St., Stamford, CT 06902.
