STAMFORD, Conn. — State Police have identified the woman who died after jumping onto I-95 from an overpass in Stamford last week as 27-year-old Abbey Meany of Stamford.

Meany was killed after she jumped onto I-95's left lane from the Main Street overpass at Exit 9 at around 11:46 a.m. Thursday, according to State Police .

State Police said Meany died of severe head trauma. She was also hit by a car on I-95, but it's unclear whether she was already dead. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the exact manner and cause of death, police said.

I-95 was clogged for hours after the accident, with all lanes closed for a while, then two lanes closed for over two hours, DOT said.

The case remains an active investigation, police said.
