STAMFORD, Conn., -- Stamford appears to have avoided the worst as of noon on Tuesday of the blizzard that is roaring through the east coast. Snowfall totals are around four to six inches and the snow is heavy and wet due to the relatively mild temperatures in the mid 30's.
The forecast continues to call for snow and blowing snow as stubbornly high winds remain over the area well into Wednesday.
Traffic was light in Stamford with schools and many businesses closed and people avoided the difficult driving conditions.
