Update: Exit 2 On I-95 In Greenwich Remains Closed For Afternoon Rush Hour

4:30 p.m. update: GREENWICH, Conn. -- Exit 2 on southbound I-95 in Greenwich remains closed Tuesday afternoon following a morning tractor-trailer vs. pole accident, the Connecticut Department of Transportation reported.

The ramp to Delavan Avenue is closed while repairs are made to the pole and power lines, DOT said. Stop-and-go traffic was reported in the area. Motorists should expect delays. 

Connecticut Light & Power was reporting 427 outages as of 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, down from 1,020 at 5:05 p.m. as a result of the accident. That is an increase from only 54 outages earlier in the afternoon. 

DOT did not have an estimate on when the exit ramp would be reopened. 

Original story: GREENWICH, Conn. -- A tractor-trailer vs. pole accident on Interstate 95 southbound in Greenwich has closed the ramp for Exit 2 on Tuesday, the Connecticut Department of Transportation reported. 

The exit ramp for Delavan Avenue was closed at about 7:40 a.m. after the accident, DOT said.

Repairs on the pole are expected to continue throughout the day, Connecticut Light & Power reported. A total of 54 power outages were being reported in the area at about 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, CL&P said. 

Small delays were continuing on the highway in that vicinity at mid-day, DOT said. 

At the height of the morning rush hour, delays were reported on I-95 southbound for 10 miles between Exits 10 and 2, DOT said.

I-95 southbound was also congested for 19.2 miles between Exits 31 and 13 on a slow-going commute on the day after a holiday weekend.
