Two Stamford Beaches Closed After Sewage Is Found

STAMFORD, Conn. — West Beach and Cummings Beach in Stamford have been closed until further notice, officials said.

The state reported a strong odor of sewage near Cummings Beach at about 10 a.m. Wednesday, a release from the city said. The city’s Water Pollution Control Authority responded and found what appeared to be untreated sewage in Cummings Pond on Soundview Avenue, the release said.

A further investigation was being conducted by the Water Pollution Control Authority to find the exact cause of the sewage, the release said.
