Two Killed In Fairfield County Rollover Crash

Troop G, Bridgeport responded at around 11:10 p.m. Thursday, southbound between Exits 7 and 8 in Trumbull, said Trooper Josue Dorelus Friday morning.

According to troopers, the crash occurred when a 2007 Toyota Scion veered off into the right grassy area and struck a large rock wall. The car then rolled over and came to rest in the grass median, said Trooper Kelly Grant. 

The driver, who did not have any identification and has not been positively identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger, Indira Kranwinkel, 22, of Bridgeport, was ejected from the vehicle. She was transported to St. Vincent's Hospital where she was pronounced dead, Grant said. 

Southbound Route 8 was closed for more than five hours. while troopers and members from the CARS Unit investigated the crash, state police said.

An active crash investigation is underway.
