STAMFORD, Conn. — A tornado ripped its way through North Stamford on Monday, leading the news this week in the city. Here is a look at the week that was.

  • On Monday morning, The Daily Voice introduced you to Kaitlyn Tarpey, a Stamford resident and the recently crowned Miss Connecticut. She will be vying for Miss America in September. 
  • During a torrential rainstorm Monday morning, a tornado wreaked havoc on North Stamford and backcountry Greenwich. The National Weather Service confirmed the reports Tuesday. 
  • A man was charged with assault and sexual assault on his wife Monday. The man who has been living in Stamford is originally from Jamaica and married a woman from Stamford to get his visa, police said. 
  • After several years of renovations, city officials celebrated the new look Scalzi Park on Tuesday morning.  
  • Fireworks returned to the city for the first time since the summer of 2009 on Wednesday night as Stamford celebrated the Fourth of July.
