FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. - You will soon be able to buy beer, wine and liquor on Sundays in Connecticut. Gov. Dan Malloy says he will sign the bill allowing Sunday sales that has now been approved by both houses of the Connecticut Legislature.
The bill will allow alcohol sales from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays, and on Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day.
"Its a measure thats long past due and a good first step to making our states package stores more consumer friendly," Malloy said in a statement. Our current laws have cost Connecticut businesses millions of dollars as consumers have flocked over our borders in search of more convenient hours and lower prices."
The state Senate approved the bill Tuesday night. The House passed it last week. Sunday sales can begin as soon as Malloy signs the bill, which as of Thursday has not yet been officially sent to his office.
When Malloy signs the bill, Indiana will be the only state that doesn't allow alcohol to be sold on Sunday, Malloy says.
