Born in Ghana, West Africa, Adusei will serve on the Economic Opportunity Committee as a foundation board member.

Other new board members are Edwin L. Ford of Stamford, Joel Green of Fairfield, Craig Henrich of Darien, Jennifer Pagnillo of Carmel, N.Y., and Richard Wenning of Redding.

Foundation board members serve three-year terms. Juanita James, CEO and president of Fairfield County’s Community Foundation, said board members offer a diverse set of skills and perspectives to help Fairfield County grow.

“This is an exciting and challenging time for our community," James said.

Specifically, Adusei's background in business and organizational management works well with the foundation's mission to promote philanthropy. The foundation conducts research to determine county-wide needs, then awards grants to organizations that fulfill those needs.

The organization has awarded more than $185 million in grants to nonprofits in Fairfield County, officials said. For more details, visit the foundation's website.
