STAMFORD, Conn. — Fishing in Stamford Harbor has been prohibited until Oct. 19 due to a sewage spill which occurred on Friday, a news release from the city said.
The spill was reported on the east branch of the harbor around 7:30 a.m. Friday, the release said. The state’s Department of Energy & Environmental Protection told the city that it should be remediated through the natural flow of water through tide changes, the release said.
State and city officials are still investigating the cause and source of the raw sewage, the release said. Officials did rule out the Water Pollution Control Authority as the source of the sewage, the release said.
Samples have been collected for further analysis.
