STAMFORD, Conn. Royan Hines, 30, of Stamford was arrested Thursday in Norwalk and charged with the fatal Monday morning stabbing of Romario Marchant, Stamford Police Capt. Richard Conklin said.
Stamford police were on their way to Bridgeport, where they learned Hines had been staying, when an officer noticed his vehicle passing them in the southbound lane on I-95. The vehicle got off at exit 14 and became stuck in traffic. Officers from Norwalk, Westport and Stamford stopped the vehicle and arrested Hines without incident, Conklin said.
The police captain said Hines and Romario argued over a soccer game Sunday and continued the argument when they saw each other later that night at Leone Park. He said Hines stabbed the Bronx 16-year-old in the chest, piercing his heart and killing him.
Romario went to Stamford Hospital, where he was pronounced dead around 2 a.m., about an hour after the stabbing. The victim carried no I.D. and police were not immediately able to identify him.

Hines was charged with murder and is being held on a $1 million bond. He will be arraigned Friday.
Conklin credited Sgt. James Van Allen and Officers David Rodriguez, Angel Gonzalez and Sean Boeger with helping solve the case. He also thanked the Stamford Jamaican community for its help.
