Stamford Historical Society Treasurer Gets Probation For $20K Embezzlement

STAMFORD, Conn. The former Stamford Historical Society treasurer who was accused of embezzling just more than $20,000 from the group will take part in a probation program for first-time offenders, removing a felony charge from his record, reports the Stamford Advocate.

Donald Huppert, 72, was ordered to take part in a probation program after allegedly embezzling $20,100 from the Stamford Historical Society.

Donald Huppert, 72, will have to participate in the accelerated rehabilitation program for two years and not have further problems with the law while in the program, according to the report.

An internal audit discovered that from August 2013 to December 2014 there was $20,100 in unauthorized cash withdrawals from the Stamford Historical Societys account. Huppert stated he was going to invest the money, but later admitted to spending it.
