In a court appearance Tuesday, the lawyers for Stamford High School Principal Donna Valentine and Assistant Principal Roth Nordin said the administrators plan to apply to Connecticut's Accelerated Rehabilitation program, The Hour said.

They are due back in court Nov. 17 when a judge will determine whether they are eligible for the program, The Hour said.

If Valentine, 62, and Nordin, 55, complete the program, they could avoid prison time and the charges would be dismissed.

Valentine and Nordin were arrested Oct. 2 and charged with failing to report to the Department of Children and Families that Stamford High teacher Danielle Watkins, 32, a Norwalk resident, was having a sexual relationship with an 18-year-old student.

Instead, they conducted an independent investigation.

Valentine and Nordin have been placed on administrative leave. Both have pleaded not guilty in the case.

Watkins was arrested in July and charged with two counts of sexual assault and one count of selling marijuana in connection with the case involving the 18-year-old.
