Stamford Ex-Convict Pleads Guilty to Gun Charge

Anthony Uzar III, 28, of Stamford pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon Wednesday in Federal Court in New Haven. Court documents and statements showed that he had a Remington 12-gauge shotgun, Model 1100, on May 12 of this year.

It is a violation of federal law for a convicted felon to have in his possession a firearm that has been transported in interstate or foreign commerce, a release from U.S. Attorney David B. Fein’s office said.

Uzar’s arrest stemmed from an investigation of firearms and narcotics trafficking in southwestern Connecticut. Uzar and 16 others were arrested on May 12. More than 100 firearms were purchased or seized during the investigation.

Sentencing for Uzar has been scheduled for Sept. 2. He faces a maximum of 10 years in jail and a fine up to $250,000.
