In an open letter the thousands of Alive@Five fans, the DSSD said it, too, hates the lines at the Thursday outdoor concerts and decided to introduce new procedures for entry to Columbus Park.

If you are under 25, you will no longer be required to stand in a line to fill out a Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection Liquor Control Division Age Statement Form, certifying that you are 21 or older. Spot checks will be done instead, but the DSSD said it would be vigilant in stopping underage drinking.

Also, more entry points will be added to ease the lines.

The cost of this week's concert has been cut $5 to just $10 per person, the DSSD said, in an effort to put the fun back into the summer event.

This week's concert will feature Ryan Cabrera with Mike Scala and Alexis Babini opening the event.
