FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – Services will be held this week for Staff Sgt. Todd James “T.J” Lobraico, the Fairfield County solider who was killed last week in Afghanistan.

The 105th Airlift Wing will honor Lobraico in a memorial ceremony at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Stewart Air National Guard Base in Newburgh, N.Y.

Members and retired members of the New York Air National Guard's 105th Airlift Wing, 213th Engineer Installation Squadron, U.S. Marine Corps Reservists and guests will attend the Fallen Comrade Ceremony. The 105th Airlift Wing Commander, Col. Timothy Labarge, and 105th Airlift Wing Chaplain Lt. Col. Robert "Bob" Tilli will speak in the main hanger at the base.

The family of Lobraico, 22, will receive friends on Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m. at Western Connecticut State University’s Westside campus in Danbury. Services will be held at the O’Neill Center on Friday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in North Cemetery on Church Road in Sherman.

Danbury police asked that those attending Friday's funeral service park at the Danbury Fair Mall, where buses will transport them to the O'Neill Center. A section of the mall's parking lot near Sears will be reserved for those heading to WestConn, police said.

Police advised that those attending the funeral allow themselves extra time to get from the mall to WestConn.

Lobraico was a member of the New York Air National Guard and a 2008 graduate of New Fairfield High School. His father, Todd, is a Stamford police officer and Air Force veteran.

He was killed when enemy forces attacked his unit with small arms fire near Bagram Airfield, the Department of Defense announced. Read more about Lobraico here on The Daily Voice.
