Roger A. Petrone Sr., Retired Stamford Cop

Roger A. Petrone Sr., a retired Stamford police officer, died at the age of 67 on May 2 in Myrtle Beach, S.C. He was born Sept. 13, 1943 in Stamford.

After graduating from Stamford High School in 1961, Petrone attended Iona College . He also served in the U.S. Navy and went on to have a 37-year career in the Stamford Police Department , reaching the rank of sergeant.

He enjoyed vacationing in Aruba and had a fondness for motorcycles. Before he retired, Petrone took a motorcycle trip from Connecticut to Alaska.

Petrone was a longtime Master Mason, served as Past Master of Union Lodge #5 and was a member of Vanhoe Lodge 107.

He is survived by his wife, Joan Meyer Petrone; his sons Roger A. Petrone Jr. and Robert A. Petrone; his brother; Donald Petrone; and three grandchildren and two stepchildren.

There will be a memorial service from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, May 14, at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer St., Stamford. Donations in Petrone’s memory can be made to the ALS Therapy Development Institute.
